Kerala ... "Gods own country"

With an outpour of interests on the Indian state where I come from; Kerala, I write this page dedicated to opportunities, tourism and just plain fun. Kerala is scenic and beautiful in its natural form, tourism is very prominent in this state and I myself thought that it is such a pearl in the world tourism map that one should not miss it for the world.

Kerala is well known for its backwaters and especially "Alleppey" now called "Alappuzha" is also known as venice of the east. Through the years being in Kerala, I have built both business and lesieure contacts in Kerala and I wish to share some of these with the readers of this page.

Lets read this extract from Wikipedia "Kerala is a state on the tropical Malabar Coast of southwestern India. To its east and northeast, Kerala borders Tamil Nadu and Karnataka; to its west and south lie the Indian Ocean islands of Lakshadweep and the Maldives, respectively. Kerala nearly envelops Mahé, a coastal exclave of Pondicherry. Kerala is one of four states that compose the linguistic-cultural region known as South India. The principal spoken language is Malayalam, but other languages are also spoken."

Alleppey Sea Port Bridge .... photo by shaji john

This is the reminence of the port bridge which was built by the british, no restoration work has been done and hence is almost about to fall off into the sea. But currently is a significant reminder of Alleppey's glory in sea trade.

Alleppey Sea Port Bridge closer view.... photo by shaji john

I used to live about a mile away from the beach; a jog in the morning and visiting the beach to see the sunset were frequent. We friends used to sit by the road side just by our parked bikes and talk about everything under the sun.

Alleppey Beach Road .... photo by shaji john

This road just off the beach is always being constructed as I can remember. It gets done and then the next rainfall its all broken up with pot holes.

Fishing Boats on the Beach .... photo by shaji john

Fishermen still live and fish on this coastline, and the snake shaped boats are common sights here. Just behind those coconut trees you will see huts make of coconut leaves in which these fishermen live(most of them have now become concrete constructions).
